Ryan Furtak

Ryan is a Pennsylvania native and grew up near the foothills of the Pocono Mountains. In his youth his father would take him on float trips down the Delaware River where he first learned to fish. This is where Ryan’s passion for the outdoors began. It was not until his teenage years he began fly fishing in pursuit of trout on nearby freestone streams. Thereafter he continued his education at Penn State and his fly fishing education on famed Central Pennsylvania streams. He then put his engineering degree to the side and moved to the Upper Delaware to follow his true passion of fly fishing. He is now manager of Border Water Outfitters in Hancock, NY, where he shares his knowledge of fly fishing and tying. He is a member of Friends of the Upper Delaware and Stanley Cooper Trout Unlimited. When he is not at the shop, you’ll find him on the water. Ryan has a decade of fly fishing experience. He also guides for Steelhead on Lake Erie tributaries in Pennsylvania and New York.

On occasion we may use an independent guide on a daily basis.  The small network of guides we use are talented fishermen who will work hard to make your day a success.  We won't put you with just anyone.  If there is no one available we will tell you that.  Your memorable experience demands it, our pride won't allow it and our reputation depends on it.
